Izakaya Jinsei: Eugene's Vibrant Japanese Izakaya with Fresh Sushi and Takoyaki

My fiancé and I wanted to try a place we’ve never been to before, and we are so happy we chose Izakaya Jinsei. The atmosphere is simple, not pretentious at all, and I feel fits the area great. The staff was super nice, very helpful, and just all around a delight. I definitely recommend, and will be going back. The parking can be a little crazy, you might have to pay a meter, but you’ll be able definitely find parking even if it requires a little bit of a walk.

Locally owned/ Mom & Pop shop. Wonderful customer service and delicious food! Our waiter was super sweet and attentive. Waters frequently refilled, and wait time was not bad at all. Highly recommend this restaurant!

I read two of the bad reviews before I got here and was curious about the validity of them. Here is what I found. This restaurant is truly a mom and pop shop, there are two lovely people both attending and cooking for the whole restaurant. I did find I waited a little longer than usual for service but I also know I am a full grown adult capable of practicing patience and compassion. It was well rewarded at the end as the food was delicious! The chicken was super crispy! The rolls was even better than the description and the miso soup was warm and cozy. Please come and enjoy the delicious food the owners have to offer but don’t forget to bring your kindness.

We were roughly the first ones in as they opened. Greetings were jovial and seating was swift. The menu was a Lot. There were many choices and the staff was willing to let us order one thing at a time, making it the perfect slow dining experience. The Tacoyaki (octopus in dough) was fantastic and as described. Crispy on the outside and flavorful and warm on the inside. Next we opted for 3 pieces of 4 fish. Noticing that there were 2 of us, we got 4 of 4. It was wonderful. Every fish was well cut and fresh to the taste. Also, a nice selection of Sake. We chose a medium priced bottle to share. The only thing is location. Campus area is strange to those who do not live there. That being said, I will most likely be back.

Awesome Japanese restaurant. It is not really an Izakaya, but it has a lot of choices. The food was perfect. Noodle soup is hot and tasty, sushi is well made and the appetizer is so big.

Nice little place with AMAZING sushi. Started with the miso and the broth is full of flavor, was delicious. I then had the Jinsei Combo #2, mine came out with 3 pieces of sashimi of tuna, yellowtail, red snapper, and salmon. WOW! The sushi is so fresh and texturally it’s everything you want. Just enough firmness but also super tender and melt in your mouth deliciousness. I also ordered the lemon roll and was surprised at how much I enjoyed the combo of the spicy tuna, the lemon, and wasabi. Was equally spectacular as the sashimi. Highly recommend. Delicious sushi, no doubt!

The ramen tasted really good, super flavorful and satisfying. They serve lemon water instead of regular water, which I didn't expect but it was actually really refreshing. Definitely a great spot to hit for ramen or any of your Japanese cravings.
